What you can visit

The Strahov Monastery complex is not only a historic monument, but above all a living community of Premonstratensian brothers — a place of prayer and silence. At the same time, it also bears witness to the artistic taste and care of our predecessors. For this reason, we open certain parts of the complex to the public and invite you to visit them.

Welcome to Strahov Monastery

The renowned halls of the Strahov Library – the Theological and Philosophical – are considered among the most beautiful library halls in the world. During a regular visit, you can peek into these unique spaces or you can book a special tour that allows you to walk through these magnificent and breathtaking areas. The number of visitors in these spaces is limited, due to the need to protect them from the effects of air humidity, which is also brought into the space by visitors. Thank you for your understanding.

It is also worth visiting the Strahov Gallery to see, for example, the Strahov Madonna, stopping by the treasury, or visiting the historic halls and gardens with beautiful views of Prague and Hradčany. A pleasant way to conclude your visit might be a trip to our 13th-century monastery restaurant located in the heart of Petřín Rock – Na Pekle, or the sought-after summer terrace V Ráji.
