We invite you to join us at Strahov for our Advent spiritual programme. This year’s Advent still takes place within the Holy Year proclaimed by Pope Francis. We wish you a peaceful Advent season!

Rorate Masses by candlelight with traditional Old Czech Rorate chants
5:45 a.m. Regularly on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout Advent (on these days there is no morning Mass at 7:15 a.m.)
30 November – 1st Sunday of Advent
- 10:00 a.m. Holy Mass with Renaissance Rorate chants with the Czech Madrigalists and the blessing of Advent wreaths and the blessing of the new choir organ
- 6:00 p.m. Evening Mass
- 7:30 p.m. Inaugural organ concert
6 December Advent spiritual retreat with Fr. Zdík Miroslav Jordánek on the theme of Grace, from 9:00 a.m. in the Winter Refectory. Concluding with Holy Mass at 1:30 p.m. in the basilica.
7 December – 2nd Sunday of Advent
- 10:00 a.m. Holy Mass, followed by a meeting of children with St Nicholas and parish coffee in the Winter Refectory of the monastery (from about 11:00 a.m.)
- 6:00 p.m. Evening Mass
14 December – 3rd Sunday of Advent
- 10:00 a.m. Morning “Gaudete” Mass
- 6:00 p.m. Evening Mass in Latin with Gregorian chant
- 7:30 p.m. Visual meditation by Abbot Daniel during Vespers with organ accompaniment by V. Roubal
21 December – 4th Sunday of Advent
- 10:00 a.m. Morning Mass in the basilica
- 5:30 p.m. Czech Television Advent Concert live from the basilica
- There will be no evening Mass
24 December – Christmas Eve
- 7:15 a.m. Morning Advent Mass
- 4:00 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass (especially for families and children) with a collection of toys for children in need
- 11:59 p.m. “Midnight” Mass
- There will be an opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation before Christmas always half an hour before the evening weekday Mass, and on Sundays also before the morning Mass throughout the Advent season. It is also possible to arrange another time individually with a priest.
- On the Facebook page “Klášter premonstrátů na Strahově” you can follow regular spiritual reflections on the Sunday biblical readings of the Advent season.
- Every Thursday after the evening Mass at 6:00 p.m. there is adoration with Night Prayer (Compline), ending at about 7:15 p.m.
- Regular Sunday half-hour organ recitals from 12:00 noon.
