From the historical music archive of Strahov Abbey
We cordially invite you to the third concert of the Strahov concert season. The programme will offer a glimpse into the music archive of Strahov Monastery and present modern premieres of works by 18th-century Premonstratensian composers: F. I. Tůma and J. Oehlschlägel.
Created on: 8. 7. 2026
The programme will be built around the repertoire of the Catholic Mass liturgy, presenting how chant music (Schola Strahoviensis) and period figural music (Hipocondria Ensemble and the Czech Madrigalists) may have sounded in historical practice.
Organ improvisations on the new choir instrument will accompany and connect the individual parts, as was common practice in the 18th century. You will have a unique opportunity to experience authentic 18th-century liturgical practice in the very space where this music was once performed.
Date: 23 September 2026, 7:30 p.m., Strahov Basilica
Performers: Schola Strahoviensis, Pueri Gaudentes, two organs – Vladimír Roubal
Tickets: available either at the monastery ticket office or online; standard admission CZK 450.
