Holy Week at the Strahov Abbey
We invite you to take part in the spiritual programme of Holy Week, which begins on Palm Sunday and concludes with the beginning of the Easter season — Easter Sunday of the Lord’s Resurrection, which this year falls on 5 April. Below you will find the programme we offer. We wish that the celebration of these days may deepen your relationship with Christ.

29 March – Palm Sunday
10:00 a.m. Holy Mass with the sung Passion (beginning at the Church of St Roch with the blessing of palm branches, followed by a procession to the basilica)
6:00 p.m. Holy Mass beginning in the basilica
7:30 p.m. Lenten visual meditation by Abbot Daniel (as part of Vespers – participation in person or online possible)
2 April – Holy Thursday
9:30 a.m. Chrism Mass – Holy Mass with the Archbishop in the cathedral, including the blessing of the oils
6:00 p.m. Mass of the Lord’s Supper, followed by adoration in the Garden of Gethsemane
3 April – Good Friday
6:00 a.m. Tenebrae, Morning Prayer with the sung Lamentations of Jeremiah in the basilica
3:00 p.m. Good Friday liturgy
4:30–5:30 p.m. Opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation
4:30–8:45 p.m. Adoration at the Holy Sepulchre
9:00 p.m. Stations of the Cross on Petřín Hill (beginning in front of the basilica)
4 April – Holy Saturday
6:00 a.m. Tenebrae, Morning Prayer with the sung Lamentations of Jeremiah in the basilica
10:00 a.m.–8:30 p.m. Adoration at the Holy Sepulchre
9:00 p.m. Easter Vigil with the baptism of adults
5 April – Solemnity of the Resurrection of the Lord
10:00 a.m. Holy Mass with the blessing of Easter food
6:00 p.m. Holy Mass accompanied by the Strahov church choir Collegium Strahoviense and orchestra
7:30 p.m. Easter Vespers with procession to the baptismal font
The schedule of other liturgies follows the usual order. The sacrament of reconciliation is available every day 30 minutes before the evening Mass and services, and on Sundays also before the morning Mass. It is also possible to arrange an individual appointment with a priest at another time.
